Rick WilliamsChair of Trustees
Rick retired in March 2020 after 27 years as Chief Executive of Cornerstone housing association in Exeter. He moved to Kingskerswell in 2016 and became involved with Kerswella as his wife, Karen, is a volunteer and he helped out during the pandemic. He brings a wealth of experience in the governance and regulation of not-for-profit organisations and understands the strategic role and responsibilities of trustees.
Jill WrightTrustee - Treasurer
Jill has a background that has been in administration and finance and became a Volunteer for Kerswella since its inception. She is actively involved in various Voluntary organisations within Kingskerswell since retirement 10 years ago and cares passionately about the local community as her family have lived in the village for over 100 years.
Kingsley Matthews
Kingsley joined as a volunteer in 2018 having retired as a school business manager in 2017. He was born & raised in the village and so knows many of the people he helps with transport and Kerswella’s events and activities. Alongside his secretary role, he is involved with fundraising and grant applications to support Kerswella’s work – and makes sure that everything is properly accounted for during the year and at the year end! He represents Kerswella in his role as trustee on KingsCare’s board who provide oversight of Kerswella’s affairs.
Alyson BlakeTrustee
Alyson came to the village in 2014 and on retirement as an Occupational Therapist from the NHS was looking for a way to get involved in the village and meet other local residents. She started as a volunteer in 2021 and agreed to become a Trustee in 2022. As a volunteer she drives, helps with coffee mornings and lunches and the Pavillion café and in 2023 has been involved with the Coronation Raffle.
Maggie BonnellTrustee
Maggie has managed KingsCare in Kingsteignton since 2003 and KingsCare were instrumental in the birth and continuation of the Kerswella Care Project. Maggie believed there was a need in our community for patient support services and sought funding for the Kerswella pilot project in 2017. Six years on, Kerswella still work closely with KingsCare and were thrilled that Maggie has come on board as a trustee. Her knowledge of the voluntary patient support sector and its funding is second to none.
Gwynn HermsenMinutes Secretary
Gwynn volunteered as a Kerswella driver prior to the pandemic in 2020. She now lives in Aller but previously lived in Coffinswell. Having helped to organise the Kingskerswell Summer Moon festival for 10 years, Gwynn wanted to continue working with the village community. She identified strongly with Kerswella Care’s aims of support for individuals and their social needs.
Steve RattlidgeTrustee
Born in Birmingham but having lived in Newton Abbot area since 1974, now retired and living in Ipplepen, Steve enjoys walking trails all over UK and playing tennis
He has a great interest in local community – having served as a governor ( 10yrs)of Teign school Kingsteignton, volunteer driver for KingsCare League of Friends and is now Chairman Ipplepen Parish council . As well as serving as a Kerswella Trustee, Steve volunteers driving local residents to medical appointments for Kerswella

Gill GouldCoordinator
Gill was appointed Coordinator of the pilot project in October 2017. She has been overwhelmed by the generosity and kind spirit of members of the community.
Sally CollierAssistant Coordinator
Sally has been an active volunteer of Kerswella since the beginning and was delighted when an opportunity arose to work alongside Gill as Assistant Co-ordinator in January 2021. Having taken voluntary redundancy after working in the banking industry for 33 years the timing was perfect for a new challenge. She continues to enjoy her role working in the community, alongside the many wonderful volunteers who give their time so generously and making a difference to people’s lives.
Richard MayohTransport Coordinator
Richard has lived in Kingskerswell since 2003. He joined Kerswella in November 2023 to help organise the growing transport requests that Kerswella receives.
