Kerswella is a voluntary community support group based at the Kingskerswell Health Centre since 2017 that provides a range of well-being and support services to socially isolated, vulnerable and elderly residents. Kerswella covers the communities of Kingskerswell, Abbotskerswell, Ipplepen and the surrounding area.
We were set up and supported by KingsCare League of Friends with an Awards for All grant from the National Lottery in October 2017 – this was to pilot the project in the area and our first year proved a great success thanks to the community embracing the initiative and the generous help offered by volunteers from the community.
In April of 2024, Kerswella was granted a National Lottery award from The National Lottery Community Fund. This 3 year funding will ensure we can continue and expand the work we have done over the past 7 years – helping to tackle social isolation and loneliness across the Kingskerswell area and now into Ipplepen and surrounding communities.
The National Lottery has recognised the need to do more and to support our communities in new and different ways going forward. Kerswella’s team of volunteers is the key to further success. Local funding has ensured that our services continue to thrive. The new National Lottery Community funding gives Kerswella’s services a secure footing for the future and the ability to promote its work further.
